Tweseldown 2 Day Camp, 14th & 15th September 2024
Tweseldown 2 Day Camp, 14/15th September
by Laura Sheath
My daughter Mollie joined Meon riding club a couple of months ago and was so looking forward to this camp and it didn’t disappoint. We were made very welcome by all the members of the club and the weather was fantastic. We arrived at the camp having caught the 6.30am ferry to Southampton and made our way to Tweseldown, we unloaded and settled in a very nice barn and got ready for the first lesson flat work. We then swapped with the other group and had a show jumping lesson. A picnic lunch meeting other members of the clinic whilst the horses had a break and then tacking up and making our way over to the Xcountry clinic for the afternoon lesson. Wow what amazing facilities and a great afternoon. We then finished off the horses and met in the club room for a talk and demonstration on human and horse physiotherapy this was very helpful and interesting. Fish and chip dinner was then delivered and very nice this was too thank you! We then had a quiz night with chocolates and sweets! Sunday we had sunshine again and the day of the Fun ODE. Dressage was first on the list and after some pointers on some parts of the selected test the test was then ridden and marked. A Xcountry course walk with the instructors and then the show jumping the first round was a practice with comments from David as how to improve and then jumping the round to count in the competition. The Xcountry section was under the instruction of Georgina. Everyone was very supportive with each other and Mollie certainly enjoyed every bit of the camp and didn’t want to leave ! Special thanks to Alex and everyone involved in putting this on and organising and the instructors David and Georgina for their input, knowledge and guidance over the weekend it was very good.
