Meon AGM and Member Awards 2023
Meon AGM and Member Awards 2023
We had our AGM tonight and it was very well attended! Lots of food and drink, excellent raffle with some super prizes. A brilliant quiz that bought out everyone’s competitive side and a lot of laughter!
Huge congratulations to all the members who received awards, each one very well deserved!
Meon Riding Club Awards 2023
Novice challenge Award (outstanding performance at Novice level)– Millie Mae Barney- for qualifying and going to the Lincoln National Champs in the Senior 80 team, going triple clear. Competing in the Senior Style 85cm championships, after being completely new to this competition as she stepped in as a reserve in the qualifier. She also won her dressage class at the most recent qualifier.
Hawthorn Achievement (outstanding performance at Intermediate level) – Sam McEwan- For qualifying and competing in the DTM National championship and coming away with a very well earned 5th.
McCarthy Salver (An award that recognises a member who has made the biggest improvement over the year, those that may not compete in teams or other comps, but still work hard in the background) – Louisa Whitlock embraced the challenge of keeping her pony to the flat by taking up dressage, not something Louisa felt confident to do, but she has worked really hard with her training and competed for Meon in our latest Dressage Qualifier.
Volunteers Award – Oonagh McGibbon – for being the best team manager she could possibly be, supporting many riders, at the multiple dressage qualifiers, all day, reading many tests and giving lots of encouragement.
Simply Seamus Award (outstanding performance in SJ) – Heidi Oliver- for competing in both the 80cm Novice Championships at Grantham, and the 80cm National Championships in Lincoln, both times stepping in as a reserve, but all year Heidi has been really pushing herself and has successfully achieved her goals.
Gem Cross Country Cup (outstanding performance in XC) – Shirley Medgett – for qualifying at the 90 Arena Eventing Qualifier, but sadly the championship class was cancelled due to snow. Then qualifying and competing in the Combined Challenge Championship at Aston, and also being part of the Blenheim Eventers Challenge Meon Team.
Veteran Trophy (club member over 50 who has been consistent throughout the year)– Sue Alexander- for attending lots of our training and really working hard, she is now confident and competing successfully in her jumping. We hope to see her on teams in the future.
Best Newcomer (consistent performance by a relatively new member) – Dottie Mills- for being our first ever Meon junior to qualify and compete at the National Championships in Lincoln, in not only Show jumping but in Dressage too. A real achievement.
Arc En award (outstanding performance in dressage) – Georgia Norton for successfully winning her classes in the Summer qualifier, and then competing at the National Championship in Lincoln in 2 dressage classes.
Rose Seagrave Memorial Trophy (Improvement in dressage over the year)– Jane McGibbon for her consistent and significant progress in Dressage and for putting herself forward to compete for Meon teams at the Qualifiers
